Mangalore: The year was better than 2009 in any ways with considerable rainfall and bumper harvests in many states. There were floods in many states in the north India, but Karnataka had both dry areas and those receiving rainfall, it was in Sept – October 2009, on year ago, that floods had devastated northern regions of Karnataka and CM had raised Rs.1500 crores to re-locate villages / homes for thousands of flood – affected. Houses have not been built and allotted so far.
There was illegal mining of iron ore in forests of Bellary bordering Andhra and unauthorized exports were also made worth crores of rupees. The problem of mining and exporting still remains, with 3 Ministers of Bellary being corrupt in their trade matters.
There was an Air Indai Boeing crash at Bajpe killing 158 aboard the craft and probe showed that a foreign pilot named Zlako, was responsible for the gruesome tragedy. No one has been penalized in the case.
The city police Mangalore say that criminal cases have been reduced this year and alert signals are everywhere to catch the thieves. But road accidents continue to happen. A black magic case was reported in suburban areas of the city, in which a female child of 3 was killed by an old Tantrik and his step daughter who were roughed up by mobs before police arrested them.
Two young girls from Kundapur and Karkala won gold Medals in races and Kabaddi, in Delhi and China.
Political messing and controversies continued all through the year. Scams did not clued Congress or BJP.
But sports and Games (Cricket, Chess, Shooting, Athletics, Billiards, Shuttle badminton, Relay races, Kabaddi etc) brought warmth and satisfaction to the hearts of all Indians.
