Mangalore : Alok Mohan IGP (western range) who had taken charge on August 26, 2010 has been transferred from the post and will move on to do his Masters in Public Management of Singapore University and Harvad University for the duration of one year as a part of job process.
Speaking at the press meet held at his chamber on Dec 12, Monday, he said that the people of the coastal region and media have helped and supported him to actively work to maintain law and order in the city. He also said that he will be trained for the course in two universities for the period of six months each and is first officer from Karnataka to get selected for the course.
This opportunity to go for the higher educational post is gained due to the good fortune and wishes from the Mangalore City. This course will train to implement the policy measures in society and full governance, sharing of ideas and learning new things. Full fellowship of the course is given by the Universities.
The earlier courses taken in foreign countries were very helpful and this will also be helpful for the society and public, he said. This course is necessary since this will create new idea and system in the country. I am very excited about the course, he added.
Speaking about the ratio of crime in the city, he said that this year the robbery and chain snatching have drastically reduced from 92 to 56 and the house theft from 81 to 53. He said that the police officials must be trained for Yoga and Physical Training to remain active and relive their mental stress in every station.
The new IPG (western range) Pratap Reddy, who was the IGP (fire services), will take charge in coming days.
