Mangaluru : A public holiday has been announced on May 10, Wednesday to facilitate public to cast their votes for the Assembly elections scheduled to be held that day.
However, all government employees on election duty will have to appear for duty.
The counting of votes will be held on May 13 at NITK, Suratkal. Deputy Commissioner Ravikumar M R who is also the district election officer has informed that elected representatives, poll agents, counting agents, supervisors, assistants and other staff have to deposit their mobile phones, electronic watch and other digital equipment at the counter before entering the counting centre.
Those violating this order will face action under Column 120 of the Public Representation Act 1951, and relevant sections of IPC, the DC has said.
