Customs officials sized Ganja worth 5 lakhs at Mangalore Intl. Airport

Ganja AirportMangaluru : Based on a tip off given by Air India Security, the Customs officers of the Mangalore International Airport intercepted a passenger by name Shri Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood and seized about 4.110 kilograms (including moisture content) of dark green dry leaves believed to be ‘CANNABIS’, a narcotic drug commonly known as Marijuana or Ganja, valued at about Rs.5,00,000/- in the international market, from the baggage found in possession of the said passenger on June 18 Thursday.

The passenger Shri. Muhammed Ershad Chemberika Mohamood, aged about 31 years, who was bound to Doha by Air India Express flight No.IX821 scheduled for departure in the evening of 18.06.2015, is a resident of Kasaragod, Kerala.

The passenger has been arrested and is being produced before the Hon’ble Chief Judicial Magistrate, Mangalore, for remand. Further investigation is under progress.
