Brahmavar : A complaint has been lodged against Kota SI Sudha Prabhu with the Udupi District Superintendent of Police alleging that the SI had committed atrocities and has abused the caste of two Dalit women in connection with the case of theft.

The aggrieved women Asha G (36) of Karkada in Saligrama and Sujatha of Belur village have been admitted to the Udupi District Government Hospital.

Asha in her complaint alleged that on October 2 the SI summoned her and Sujatha to the station in connection with the theft in the house of Kiran Kumar Shetty of Nooji village and had illegally kept them in the station for two days and had assaulted and abused them in the name of caste.

She has alleged that the SI had even threatened to resort to encounter and had even denied water and toilet facilities.

The Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (Ambedkar Vaada) has taken strong exception to the incident and has met the aggrieved women in the hospital. The Samithi even met DySP Dinaker and has demanded the suspension of Kota SI failing which a protest will be held.
