Udupi : Daniel Monteiro of St Mary’s Syrian College, Brahmavar, has made an new entry in Guinness Book of World Records for his unqiue 4,911 stamp collection on birds from 263 countries after breaking the earlier record of Paul Irvin Oswald, who had collection of 2,166 stamps of birds.
Addressing the press meet at Press Club, he said that he had cultivated the hobby from his childhood on his teacher’s suggestion.
Expressing his gratitude of entering into the Guinness Book of World Records, he said that philetelists had guided in his venture. He also said that he had collected around 8,000 stamps including 4,911 stamps on birds.
He also said that he had won several medals from international philately platforms from countries such as Hong Kong, South Korea, South Africa, Thailand, Indonesia, Austria, Belgium, China and Singapore.
