Mangaluru: As the countdown for the state’s Legislative Assembly has begun the Election Commission has taken up concrete measures for the proper implementation of the election model code of conduct. At this juncture, the incident of D.K. district election officer has come forward to take action against dereliction of duty by election officials has taken place.
D.K. District Commissioner has sent a show cause notice to Moodbidri election officer on failing to remove banners and buntings from public and private locations within Moodbidri legislative assembly constituency,
On March 27th election model was implemented. Information was given stating that all banners, flex, buntings, poster and other promotion material of political parties should be removed with 24 hours of the announcement of the implementation of election model code of conduct.
But it has come to light that vehicles and locations within Moodbidri Legislative Assembly Constituency have not yet removed the banners, posters and other promotional materials related to political parties. It has been proved to the overview that no action had been taken which shows dereliction of duty. So D.K. District Commissioner, on April 8th, sent a notice to Moodbidri election officer demanding reason as to why legal action should not be initiated against him.
