Mangalore : Deputy Commissioner and District Election officer AB Ibrahim said that the concerned officials and staffs to discharge their duties in a transparent, free and fair manner on the day of counting of votes polled for the Lok Sabha elections in Dakshina Kannada constituency, which will on May 16 at 8 am.

Speaking after presiding over a training camp for the counting supervisors and assistants, organized at his office on May 10, Saturday, DC said that the room of EVM’s will be opened on May 16 at 7.30 am in the presence of representatives of the candidates and the counting will begin at 8 am. The staffs must report the duty at 7.30 am, he added.

Additional DC Sadashiva Prabhu said that each assembly constituency segment will have two counting rooms. Each room will have seven counting tables, comprising of a supervisor and an assistant. Apart from it, every room will also have an assistant election officer and an additional assistant election officer and one agent on behalf of the candidates.

The staffs in the presence of three additional assistant election officers and a gazetted superintendent will also count 1663 postal /service ballots in a separate room.

He also said that District Statistics Department officer NK Nagendra and Puttur AC Krishnamurthy have conducted the training on counting of votes to the poll counting staff at the camp organized by Central Election Commission in Delhi.
