Mangalore : BJP district president Padmanabha Kottary said that the farmers of Dakshina Kannada who gave the agricultural land to the industrialists are in state of distress.
Speaking at the press meet held at District BJP office on October 1, Saturday, he said that the industries have started the land acquisition process of agricultural land for the construction of corridor for elephants and gas pipeline. Hence the land acquisition process by the industrialist and companies for their benefit must be stopped immediately, he said.
He also said that in order to create the spacious corridor for the movement of Elephant, the reserve forest and other region will be included under the Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary scheme. Hence the farmers and residents, residing near forest region in Sullia, Puttur and Belthangady are tensed and scared of the problems to be faced due to the increase of animals.
He also said that the memorandum has been handed over to CM DV Sadananda Gowda to leave the plan which will create problem to the common people.
Speaking about the pipeline, he said that the Cochin- Mangalore-Bangalore- Chennai pipeline will pass through Mangalore- Bantwal- Belthangady and give the sleepless night to the farmers, since the pipeline will be implemented in the agricultural land, he said.
He also urged the department to not create any problem to the common people in regard to the cancellation of ration cards. He also said that if the ration cards are illegal and fake, then they have right to cancel it.
Monappa Bhandary, former president of District BJP, Mayor Praveen Anchan, Rukmayya Poojary, Shayna Jayaram, Sulochana G K Bhat and others were present.
