Dr.Satheesha Nayak Alambi celebrates Independence Day in a unique way

Dr.Satheesha-NayakUdupi : Dr.Satheesha Nayak, Alambi, Professor of Anatomy, at Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE) celebrated the 76th Independence Day in a unique way.

On the eve of Independence Day, he organised a Swachh Bharath Rally with his cousins and their family members. The team cleared the plastic waste from a few roads at 80th Badagabettu GramPanchayath territory. While collecting waste, they also visited 75 houses with a request not to throw waste on the public areas and into the flowing water.

Holding the national flag in the hands, the villagers pledged to keep the village clean. At the end of the Rally, 6 sacs full of plastic waste was collected. The Panchayath Office was requested to take care of the processing of the garbage. The team has taken a note that the garbage collecting vehicle is not reaching all the areas in the village.

They have assured the villagers that they will speak to the authorities and arrange the vehicle to collect the waste from all the houses. The team members, Soumya Satheesh, Sameeksha Nayak, Ramesh Nayak, Sandhya Nayak, Umesh Nayak, Ankith Nayak, Amith Nayak, Surendra Nayak, Adithya Nayak, Sankeerth Nayak, Ganesh Nayak, Geetha Nayak, Pooja Nayak, Pratheeksha Nayak felt proud of themselves that instead of just walking with the flag, they did a productive work. Fifty percent of the team member were school-going children.

Dr. Nayak is of the opinion that, if we want to change the nation, we have to change the mindset of children. In order to do so, we must involve them in this kind of activities. The rally was flagged off by the eldest member of the family Mrs. Lakshmi Vittala Nayak, who has witnessed all the 75 independence days celebrated till date. Dr. Satheesha Nayak is involved in various community and environmental activities which have already drawn attention of Govt of India. He was happy that he started as one-man army and now the team has grown to 15 members. He is sure that in the days to come, many more will join these activities and his village will be a model village.
