Electric cable theft racket busted; 6 arrestedBelthangady: Police have arrested six persons on the charges of stealing aluminum cables used for electric towers, worth several lakhs of rupees. A mini lorry and cables weighing nearly 750 kg has been seized from them.

Those arrested are Praveen (23) of Chikmagalur, Mohammad Sharief alias Abdul Khadri (32) of Charmady, Iqbal alias Ikku (31), Akbar Ali (23) of Neriya, Hyder (38) of Mundaje and Isaq (20) of Venur.

Electric cable theft racket busted; 6 arrestedEarlier, the cables brought for UPCL towers by Deepak Cables India, were reported missing from the firm’s store room at Kapinabagilu in Mundaje village.

The accused have been produced before the court. Cables worth Rs 1.2 lakhs, electrical fitting, and iron goods weighing 300 kgs have also been seized from them.
