Kerala: The four times former CM of Kerala and a staunch Senior Congress leader from Indira Gandhi’s rule years, is no more. K. Karunakaran (92) died in a hospital on Thursday (Dec.23). He leaves a son and a daughter. He built the Kerala Bhawan in New Delhi to be closer to the union govt during Congress rule. His body was kept for public homage at the Congress HQs in Thiruvananthapuram on Friday and then taken to Trishur for the last journey.
Sonia Gandhi and P. Chidambaram paid their last respects to the departed leader of Kerala in T’puram. People came in large numbers to offer their last tributes in T’puram and Trishur. PM is due to attend his last rites in Trishur was a public holiday. Karunakaran’s colourful life was full of events. His death has cast a shadow in Kerala.
