Mangaluru : Former president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat Harikrishna Punarooru has called upon Tulu speaking community to come forward to fight for ‘Tulurajya’.
Punarooru said Tuluvas need to wake up and fight for their mother tongue. Even as people of north Karnataka have been raising the demand for a separate statehood.
“People in North Karnataka are gearing up for a fight to divide Karnataka. They have been warning the government that their districts have been ignored. What are the contributions of the government for coastal districts,” Punarooru questioned.
Tulu, which is one of the five Dravidian languages, was ignored when the state was formed but people of Tulunadu accepted wholeheartedly, he said. Top Comment

“It is an injustice that our demand to include Tulu into the Schedule VIII of the Constitution has not been fulfilled. Hence, at least now let people of Tulunadu wake up and come forward to fight for Tulurajya,” Punarooru urged.
He called upon all Tulu speaking communities living in Kodagu, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Kasaragod to unite for the fight against state and central governments.
