Ajith Hegde Sanadi Mangalore : The posting of the Commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) is likely to end soon as the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms has issued an order posting Ajith Kumar Hegde S. back as the Commissioner of the civic body replacing H. Prasanna, according to sources.

The DPAR issued the order on Tuesday,

However, the Urban Development Department would have to issue an order of “re-posting” Mr. Hegde as the Commissioner of MCC if he was to take charge. The order was awaited, sources said.

They said that the government has posted H. Prasanna as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Karwar. Before assuming charge as the Commissioner of the MCC on July 16

Mr. Prasanna was the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kodagu.

Posting of the Commissioner became an issue with the councillors of the ruling Congress and the party MLAs divided.

While senior councillors, including a former Mayor, an MLA and MLC were lobbying to get Mr. Hegde back an MLA was against continuing Mr. Hegde as the Commissioner. This led to Mr. Prasanna to go on leave from July 17.

Meanwhile, Leader of the Opposition in the council Premananda Shetty has said that the “confusion in the posting” of the Commissioner has hit the administration of the civic body and affected common people.

In a release on Wednesday he said that it had affected in taking decisions pertaining to financial matters.
