Mangalore : HJS District Coordinator Ramananda Gowda said that celebrating New Year is not a part of Indian culture.

He was speaking at the press meet held at Hotel Woodlands Hall on Dec 29, Thursday. He said that according to Indian Culture, Yugadi is the real New Year Day and that the youth are deceptive into celebrating Jan 1.

He also said that Hindu Janajagriti Samiti condemn the celebration of New Year on Jan 1 and hence they will create awareness regarding the issue in schools and colleges by distributing pamphlets.

Ashwini Prabhu, the member of the Sanathana Samsthe, and Ramesh Naik, the member of HJS, were present at the press meet.
