Mangalore: It is a declared holiday in DK and Udupi districts, when Bakr-Id (for Muslims) falls on tomorrow, Wednesday. It is a day of sacrifice and Muslims have been asked to spare the poor animals being slaughtered on Id-Ul-Zuha in the name of a festival. Goats, Sheep and Camels are killed on this day in Muslim countries in the name of Allah who asked for a sacrifice.
Mangalore Kazi T. Ahmad Musliyar leads the Id-Ul-Zuha Namaz (prayers) and Khutuba, according to a release from Yenepoya Haji Abdulla Kunhi, President of Idgah Jumma Masjid (Mosque).
In Ullal, A.R Musliyar leads the namaz at 10 am at the Central Jumma Masjid. A procession of devout Muslims will be taken out from Kotepura to Ullal Dargah premises around 8.30 am.
In Puttige, near Moodabidri, Eid namaz starts at 7.30 am at an Islamic English School. Women are allotted separate places to pray.
Several other mosques in the district also have their prayers meeting early in the morning of Nov. 17, as Bolangady, Thokkottu and other places. Salafi movement has made namaz arrangements in many places of South Karnataka at 7.30 am to celebrate Bakr-Id.
