Udupi: A ninth standard boy named Karthik Nallur (16) lost his life due to electrocution and two other boys sustained critical injuries when an iron flag pole which they were carrying for installation in the Holekoppa Govt School grounds at Shringeri, touched an hi-tension wire on September 8, Tuesday.
Two other students namely Ranjan Horanadu and Anil Holekoppa (16) were admitted to KMC Hospital in a critical state. A physical education teacher of the school Keshava Murthi suffered a heart attack on seeing the tragedy and had to be rushed to hospital. His condition is stable.
State Youth Services and Sports Minister Abhayachandra Jain visited the hospital where the injured are admitted and said the government will bear their treatment costs. He said steps would also be taken to remove the hi-tension wires that pass above school premises in the state.
