Minister Deshpande inaugurates a value orientation programme ‘Prajna’ for lecturers

Mangalore : Minister for Higher Education and Tourism R V Deshpande inaugurated the value orientation programme ‘Prajna’, for college lecturers organised by the Ramakrishna Mutt at the auditorium on Sept 9, Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Minister urged the teachers to take responsibility to build student power into super power of the country in 2020.

He also said that although the country has gained recognition in the field of science and technology, it lacked moral values and hence it is necessary o teach them the moral values and divert their minds from immoral activities and suicides taking place in large number in the society.

Minister said that the vision of Swamy Vivekananda is relevant even to the present day and hence his values and principles must be taught to the children from higher primary level itself. Previously the teacher and students had good bond but today it turned to commercial.

He suggested the teachers to prepare youth to compete in the world market through values and not by jealous. There is necessary to build a vibrant, strong India with culture and integrity he added.of

Delivering the key-note address, Muktidanandaji, Trustee of Ramakrishna Mutt and Mission (Mysore) said that, the teachers must get rid from the minds of the people. One can enable perfection in mind, body and soul through education. Only teacher has the power to lead the character transformation, he said.

Mangalore University Vice Chancellor Prof K Byrappa said that teachers shape future of the country. Cultural transmission can only be possible through education.
He also explained about the incorporate five D’s in profession including devotion, dedication, discipline, direction and determination to become a role model to the students and society.

Swami Sarvapriyanandaji of Ramakrishna Mutt (Belur) delivered a talk on ‘Spritualising life and work,’ Aerospace engineer Dr S Vishwanath on ‘An effective student is a successful teacher’ and Prof K Raghothama Rao on ‘Personal excellence.’
