Kushalnagar :A Cabinet sub-committee has been constituted to explore possibilities for not to clear the encroachment of less than 10 acre land. Till the sub committee submits its reports, encroachment of the small farmers should not be cleared, said District-in-Charge Minister K J George.
He was speaking after receiving petitions from the small growers at Janata Darshana in Madikeri on Wednesday. The sub committee comprises of forest and revenue ministers. The government is looking forward to the committee report.
The DC’s have already been directed not to clear the encroachments that are less than 10 acre land. Kodagu district Othuvaridarara Hitharakshana Samithi President A T Madappa said that there are small cultivators who have been cultivating the land for their livelihood and have already submitted applications under Form 50-53 of the Land Revenue Act for regularisation. However, the officials have not cleared the applications.
Deputy Commissioner Anurag Tewari said that the encroachments are being cleared following the directions of the High Court. The encroachments by small land holders are not being cleared.
An exservicemen from B Shettigeri village said that he had submitted applications seeking sanctioning of Paisari land in 1991. However, no measures have been taken to sanction the land. Reacting to it, the Minister directed to dispose off the application within a week. The applications of the ex-servicemen should be cleared at the earliest.
The residents of Gondibasavanahalli said that over 300 residents residing on the periphery of the forest are not given basic facilities. The minister directed the authorities to initiate measures to provide basic facilities to the residents.
The residents of Kakkabbe raised the issue of loss of crops and elephant menace. Growers Federation Member Shankar Nachappa said that loans borrowed by the growers should be waived off.
