Mangalore : The Bio – Fuel Task Force Karnataka in collaboration with Coastal Development Authority, Mangalore organized a seminar on ‘Bio- Fuel: Research and Business Opportunities in Coastal Karnataka’ at Karnataka Bank Hall on December 2, Thursday.
Speaking after inaugurating the event, Prof Mohan Kumar, Indian Institute of Science Bangalore said that Bio- Fuel is booming in energy. People in the nation are depending on the resources obtained in other country though there are many natural resources obtained in our country.
He also said that, the main natural resource we have is the solar energy or bio- fuels through waste but still people look for alternative sources.
A similar workshop was held in Bangalore in the month of July and it was a highly successful worked ever conducted, he informed.
The bio- fuel sector must be developed both in research and business sector, he added.
Chief Guest MLA N Yogesh Bhat said that the scientist of the country must conduct various researches and convert the waste and use as the fuel. If all the researches become successful, then India will never remain as the poor nation, he said.
If the technology of converting waste and other natural resources to gain bio- fuel and other energies, he said.
Delivering the Key note address on the occasion, Y B Ramakrishna, chairman, Task –Force on Bio- fuels Government of Karnataka, Bangalore said that there are many technologies to convert waste into bio-fuel and sun is the base of all the energy.
He said that, people say that we have our own natural resources, but one must think that, till when we get these natural resources. If we use all these natural resources in 50 years then nothing will be left for the future generation. Hence we must go for the natural resource which does not get exhausted.
At present, we there is still imbalance in the nature and hence we witness the rain even after its season. Today the situation has come where all are depending on the corporate. We can see the discussions taking place between the food security and the bio-fuel.
If we identify properly, we can get one or two natural resources in each state, he added.
In his presidential address B Nagaraj Shetty, chairman of Karnataka Coastal Development Authority, Mangalore said that if the scientist of India work for the development of the bio-fuel, then our country will not need and scientist and natural resources from other countries.
The research and development must be done for the benefit of our future generation. The state government at present is working to provide permanent solution for sea erosion with the construction of permanent protective wall.
