Police raids a illegal abattoir at Uppinangady

Uppinangady cowMangaluru : A team of the Dakshina Kannada police on Sunday night raided a farmhouse in Bajattur village near Uppinangady where a illegal abattoir was functioning. The police rescued two calves and seized articles used for slaughtering.

In another incident, the Puttur Rural police arrested a person who allegedly transported 16 cattle near Balnad village. The police said a group of activists stopped the vehicle. The transporters were beaten up and the police were informed.

The police arrested the driver of the van for violation of provisions of Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.

The police have also registered a case against those who assaulted the driver.
