Mangaluru : Members of student unions affiliated to the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and All- College Students Union staged a dharna in front of the Clock Tower here on Monday demanding action against those responsible for the goof-up of results of the semester examination for undergraduate courses held by Mangalore University in December 2015.
Addressing the protesters, Rahul Shetty, student union leader, said that the results of the semester examination held in December 2015 had come as a shock for the students. Some high-scoring students had to bear the mortification of scoring low marks. The allocation of marks for various subjects too was not proper.
Though these anomalies were brought to the notice of the university authorities by the students, parents and the college authorities, the varsity’s response had been less than satisfactory. The university should respond to the grievances of the students immediately, he said.
Rahul K.M., secretary of the city unit of the ABVP, said that many students had applied for MBA course and even paid the fees for that course. But the delay and later the problems arising out of improper allocation of marks had put their future in jeopardy.
The university administration was squarely responsible for the goof-up. The university officials were giving irresponsible statements on the issue.
The Vice-Chancellor should take action to resolve the issue. The students would not hesitate to intensify their agitation, he said.
Manish Shetty, Akshay Shetty, Subodh, Bhuvan, Adil, Pavitra, student union leaders, were present.
Later, a delegation of students submitted a memorandum at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
