Bhushan-Gulabrao-BoraseMangaluru : Bhushan Gulabrao Borase, who took charge as the Superintendent of Police of Dakshina Kannada on Monday, has said that he will soon provide a mobile number to which people can provide information and file complaints through Whatsapp. Mr. Borase had introduced a similar facility during his stint as the Superintendent of Police of Mandya.

Mr. Borase said that the mobile number of the Police Control Room would be enabled to receive photographs, messages and also complaints. The system he had put in place in Mandya for tracing owners of unclaimed vehicles in the police station would be replicated in Dakshina Kannada too, he said.

Mr. Borase, who is from the 2009 IPS batch, said he would continue all the good practices that his batchmate Sharanappa S.D had put in place. “It’s a relief to take charge from Mr. Sharanappa, a topper of our batch, who has put things in place.” Mr. Borase said that he would make use of social networking tools namely Whatsapp, Twitter and Facebook to be in touch with people.

An M.Tech degree holder from National Institute Technology Jamshedpur, Mr. Borase introduced several citizen centric measures in Mandya. For successful use of the software — Effective vehicles database management to trace the owners of unclaimed vehicles — a first-of-its-kind in the State, Mr. Borase bagged the Union government’s prestigious gold medal in the category of ‘Best district-level initiative.” Owners of as many as 786 vehicles were traced using the software.
