Udupi: “Handing over the district government women’s and children hospital management to private company was a decision of cabinet,” said district in-charge Minister Pramod Madhwaraj.
Answering to a reports question on Tuesday, he said that he had opposed the move of the government in the initial stage itself.
“If the privatisation of the government hospital turns onto injustice to poor then surely I will object it. The decision was taken by the cabinet, but the MOU (memorandum of Understanding) is yet to be signed,” he said.
Further he said that the matters related to the health department and he yet to take full report of the scheme.
“I won’t consult any other ministers to while taking decisions related to my department. Due to the privatisation, poor should not suffer,” he said adding that the hospital will be named after haji Abdulla, who donated the land for the construction of the hospital.
