Mangaluru: Nidhi Sateesh of SDM Law College, Mangaluru, emerged the ‘golden girl’ by bagging two gold medals at the third convocation of the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU) held here on Friday.
She received gold medal instituted by the university for standing first in the two-year LLM (Business & Trade Laws) and Nani Palkhivala Memorial Trust gold medal for the highest score in LLM.
The other gold medallists are: Sowmya B A, BMS Law College, Bengaluru (three-year LLB); K M Amar, Priyanjali, KLE Law College, Belagavi (five-year BA LLB); Mahammandali Nayak, KSLU Law School, Hubballi (five-year BBA LLB (Hons); Safalya Wagle, KSLU Law College, Hubballi (LLM-Constitutional and Administrative); Harshita Kulkarni from KSLU Law College, Hubballi (LLM-Corporate and Commercial) and Ashwini E D, CBR National Law College, Shivamogga. (LLM-Constitutional laws).
In the absence of Governor Vajubhai Vala, Law Minister T B Jayachandra, who is the pro-chancellor of the university, presented gold medals.
Delivering the convocation address, senior Supreme Court lawyer K K Venugopal said the growth of information technology has helped all the sectors including the legal field. However, excessive use of Internet to study cases by young advocates in not a good trend. “Everything on the Internet is not the truth, and sometimes may not be correct,” he added.
