Puttur: Dakshina Kannada District Crime Intelligence Bureau sleuths, arrested a gang, including the Assistant Commissioner of Police’s car driver on Saturday April 22 for supposedly trying to dupe people by selling them ‘fake’ pearls as the genuine ones.
The accused are Mohammed Mansoor(27), Badugulipady Ibrahim(35), George VK(35) inhabitant of Nelyadi, Dinesh(29) occupant of Kuppepadavu, Mohammed Mukthar(19) inhabitant of Pavoor, Mohammed Naushad inhabitant of Kalvar and Ismail(40) of Nelyadi.
Among those captured, Ismail happens to be a staff of Home Guard. He was working as Home Gaurd in Uppinangady Police station. It is additionally learnt that Ismail used to harass vehicle drivers and coerce them by misusing the police cap. In perspective of the harassment charges leveled against Ismail, he was discharged from duty according to suggestion of Uppinangady ASI Nanada Kumar .
Afterward, he joined the Belthangady fire service station following which he managed to get a job as a driver for the ACP in the city.

The gang was deceiving gullible people by selling them ocean shells containing fake pearls and influencing them to believe them to be real ones. A case has been filed against the accused.
