Mangalore : The paurakarmikas of Mangalore City Corporation’s (MCC) are set to stage a protest under the leadership of the DK District Paurakarmikas and Fourth Grade Employees’ Association in front of the MCC building on Feb 26, Saturday, said Gangadhar, president of the association.
Speaking at a press meet held Karnataka Bank Employees’ Association Hall on Feb 23, Wednesday, he said that the protestors will put forth various demands in order to regularize their services because it was a much awaited day since 20 years, but the concerned authorities are least bothered about their problems.
He also said that no government has succeeded in solving the problems of these paurakarmikas who are unable to enjoy their basic rights.
MCC has 225 regularized workers and state government’s has not given its approval to regularize the proposals of 64 of these workers, he said added that 15 of these workers have died while still in service.
Secretary Suresh said that the workers are not provided with the protective gear, shoes, or gloves while cleaning the city. The government has stopped providing all these 5 years ago, he added.
Honorary President B. Shivappa, Advisor Thokra, and former president Sharad, were also present.
