Paurakarmikas stage protestMangalore : The paurakarmikas of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) staged a protest, demanding to regularize their services as soon as possible in front of the MCC on Feb 26, Saturday.
Paurakarmikas stage protestThe protestors sat for one and half hour holding empty plates as a way of urging the civic body to regularize their services as early as possible. The protest was held under the leadership of the Dakshina Kannada Paurakarmikas and Fourth Grade Employees’ Association.
Paurakarmikas stage protestAddressing the protestors, Gangadhar, the president of the association, they have been demanding to regularize their services since they have been waiting for the same for nearly 20 years and since the authorities concerned are least bothered about their plight. He said that no government has succeeded in solving the problems of these daily wage workers who cannot even enjoy their basic rights.
Paurakarmikas stage protestHe also said that, at present there are 225 regularized workers and that the regularization proposals of 64 of these workers have not yet received the state government’s approval, he said that 15 of these workers have died while still in service.
Paurakarmikas stage protestThe protestors later submitted a memorandum to Dr K. N. Vijayaprakash, the commissioner of the MCC.
