convocationMangalore: The end of college education is just beginning of life. In this competitive world, the waves of hardship cannot be prevented, but they can be overtaken, opined Infosys Foundation Chairperson Dr. Sudha Murthy.

Delivering the convocation address online during the 39th convocation of the Mangalore University which was held at Mangala Auditorium here on Saturday, she added, “We should not believe shortcut in life. That just passes a wrong impression. Difficulties are essential, they teach us lessons and become the steps to success.”

Hard work and work ethics can change lives. Like a cricket match, adjustment is important here. There should be a bond of love between the universities and students. When we start earning, a part of money should go for alma mater. Love for the elders, giving back to the society just increases our happiness, she said.

convocation Mangalore University Vice-Chancellor Prof. P Subrahmanya Yadapadithaya presided over the ceremony. Registrar(I/C) Prof. P L Dharma presented the annual report and also shed light on the university’s symbolic steps towards success. 117 persons, including foreigners were awarded Ph.D. degrees. 10 were awarded gold medals. Out of the 188 rankings, 69 students who have achieved the first rank received their certificates.

In this convocation, no one was awarded an honorary doctorate. Adhering to Covid-19 guidelines, only Ph.D. recipients, gold medallists, and first-rank students received their degree in presence. The event was live via YouTube and Facebook.

Including Mangalore University Syndicate members, academic council members, deans of various faculties, principals of different colleges, hundreds of dignitaries were present. Prof. Dhananjaya Kumble and Prof. Ravishankar Rao mastered the event.
