Police bust huge ganja smuggling racket, 4 arrested

Ganja Mangaluru : The police here arrested four persons smuggling 200 kilograms of Ganja in a fish-transporting truck on Wednesday.

The four have been identified as Mohammed Farooq (24) Kasragod, Sayyed Mohammed (31) Manjeshwara, Mohammed Ansar (23) Kushalnagara and Mohiudeen Nawaz (34) from Mudipu, in Karnataka. The Accused also involved in Moodabidre theft case.

According to the information given by police commissioner N Shashi Kumar, while following up the dacoity case under Moodbidri police station limits and looking for more accused, the police arrested the four.

Ganja The truck was reportedly coming from Andhra Pradesh. The four were following the truck in a car.

After receiving a tip-off of marijuana being transported to Kerala via Mangaluru, police officials immediately sent a team to intercept the truck. On stopping and searching it the marijuana was found.

It was also reported that the four smugglers distributed some of the marijuana at many places en route to Mangaluru.

Along with the marijuana, 3 swords, 1 knife, 4 mobile phones and 1 wi-fi set were also recovered and seized from the smugglers.

The police commissioner announced Rs 25,000 reward for the investigating team of Moodbidri police station and Mangaluru south sub division.
