Bangalore: Due to prier commitments of writing reports, state Lokayukta Justice Nitte Santosh Hegde has excused himself from attending Lokpal bill drafting committee meetings and discussions anymore. He did not withdraw from the panel, but only from meetings, he told reporters on Saturday. He informed that the GoI had rejected a suggestion to include Pm and the judiciary under Lokpal’s purview, a bone of contention.
The group of ministers on the panel and DK Congress leader Janardhana Poojary will be hardly hurt by the absence of Justice Hegde at the Panel meetings which may not be too many before the bill is introduced into parliament in the monsoon session.
The suggestion to include PM and Judiciary needs people’s mandate, and cannot be a matter left to be decided by Hazare and Ramdev in spite of their threats to fast unto death.
