Mangalore : The Public Education Department organized the district implementation committee meeting of Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan at Zilla Panchayath Auditorium on August 22, Monday.
Discussing on the Abhiyan, District in charge Krishna J Palemar said that there are around 933 government schools are there in the state and the activity ‘Nali Kali’ is working good in every schools.
He also said that in 20 districts of the state, Dakshina Kannada has received the first place in the Nali Kali activity. The state government has provided 1250 class rooms for the various government schools. The government schools at present days have less attendance, hence the government and teachers must work to bring them regular to schools.
MLA Abhaychandra Jain said that a government aided school is there, and rest of the houses has been acquired by the SEZ. The school has 3 acre of land and the snakes enter the class room. The government is not working for the development of these schools by solving problem, but had distributed the cycles for the children. In response, CEO Vijayaprakash said that they will send an order to the SEZ through state government to construct a good school in that area.
Vijayprakash said that the students are learning through the Nali Kali system by sitting on the floor, hence they must be provided with desks and benches to make them comfortable and other basic facilities too.
Reading about the report on the action scheme of the year 2011-12 N Shivaprakash, district deputy co-coordinator of Sarva Shikshana Abhiyan said that the permission to utilize the amount of Rs 217.80 lakhs for salary for 121 primary school teachers has been request. They also requested the state government for using the amount of Rs 18.476 lakhs for the salary for 62 teachers of primary vacant post and other demands also.
