Udupi: Reading a local Kannada daily at his place of counter fast, Pejawar seer Swami Vishwesha Tirtha has created a serious problem at Udupi, when Puthige Math seer Sugunendra had started a fast against him near Sri Krishana Temple at Anantheshwar Temple, on Tuesday at 9AM (morning) till 5AM on Wednesday(January 18).
Pejawar was peeved by Puthige’s attack on him, for not advising Sode Math monk to invite Puthige for Paryaya processions and ascension ceremony on Wednesday morning, to the Paryaya Simhasana(throne) by Sode seer, without asking Puthige to be present.
Both the Puthige and Pejawar Swamijis called off their mutual recriminations and fasts on Tuesday night, well in time for paryaya Durbar being held at 7-30AM (Sunrise hour) in the decorated Rajangana on Wednesday where 6,000 devotees would gather.
The announcement was made by CM DVS Gowda during the evening ceremony in Udupi on Tuesday(January 17), of the outgoing Paryaya Swami of Shirur Math, Laxmivara.
The youthful Swami criticized some merchants occupying Car Street premises unauthorisedly, with their temporary stalls, and asked them to vacate their transgression forthwith in the presence of CM at the farewell function.
This rebuke has generated bad blood among the traders at Car Street, against Shirur Seer. Udupi Paryaya this year in hot waters on the boil under tensions.
