Mangalore : The Jumbo Circus has pioneered and introduced many innovative acts in the Indian Circus Industry. It is the largest and No.1 Circus Company in India, said Srihari Nair, Media Co-ordinator.
He was speaking at the press meet held at Press Club on Friday April 6. He also said that this time 8 members from African Troupe comprising six male and two females who are expert in Formation of Human Pyramids, Limbo dance and fire eating, pole acrobatics.
He also said that these artistes climb up and down two poles in different styles and jump from one pole o another. The speed and dexterity of the performers during this act is remarkable. The background music of the popular Shakira song with their scintillating performance has the entire audience in total rapture.
The circus acts which are being performed for the first time in Mangalore are fish act, Russian Stick balance, double pole acrobatic by Africans.
He said that the Elephant cricket item has Chanchal, an elephant playing some lofted shots for a six. The Shiva Pooja has an elephant worshipping the Shiva lingam. Elephant Chanchal has starred in the film Dashavatharam of Kamal Hassan, in which it has an interesting sequence with Bollywood actress Mallika Sherawat.
The Macaw is a rare parrot found in the Brazilian forests. The Cockatoos is a rare bird found in Australia. The Macaw plays a seasaw balance with two Cockatoos of either side, which amuses the audiences, he said.
African artistes like Rukia Shabani Dummi, Rehema Mashaka Ponda, Richard Masura were present.
