Mangalore : MCC officials who in the past two days were on a spree of raiding pani puri stalls in Mangalore, on May 23, Wednesday raided several shops, hotels and petty shops in the city. The raid was at the directions of MCC Commissioner Harish Kumar.
The MCC team closed down several shops which were running sans license and also imposed penalty on them. The owners were asked to reopen the shops only after securing license.
The raiding team also inspected the cleanliness aspect of hotels and inspected the kitchens. Though no penalty was imposed, the hoteliers were asked to strictly adhere to cleanliness measures. The team also warmed of cancellation of license if the hoteliers failed to heed to the warning.
Bhel puri stalls too were raided and even some mobile carts which sold cut fruits in the open.
The MCC raiding team included environmental engineers and sanitation inspectors.
