Bangalore: A Division Bench of the Karnataka High Court has directed private TV channels in Karnataka to inform any Mangalore home stay style of incidents to the police before covering them. This direction has come after TVs aired Mangalore home stay attack incident without informing police.
The High Court orders has sent clear signals to all the eight private TV channels which seamlessly aired the video clippings of the attack. The Division Bench hearing a Public Interest Litigation asked the private channels not to encourage such violent pre-planned raids conducted on the pretext that immoral activities were underway.
Earlier Shakeel Ahmed and a few others had moved the court pleading to direct TV channels against airing videos of such incidents which only encourage violence.
The hearing in this case has been adjourned to August 13.
