Kasargod :One Raju alias Tangaraju (59), an inter-state thief wanted in connection with over 50 theft cases have been apprehended by the police in Palakkad.
The arrested is from Muriyanavi in Kasargod and was arrested from Chennai from where he originally hailed. He was once earlier arrested in Udupi in for several thefts, but was out on bail last year.
He, it is learnt ran a tea shop in court premises at Udupi. Police said he had so far stolen gold weighing 85 sovereigns from several places in Udupi and Madikeri and had sold all the ornaments to a jeweller in Erode, Tamil Nadu for Rs 8.5 lakh.
He has been produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.
