Belthangady: The 80th literary conference organised in connection with the Lakshadeepotsava celebrations at Dharmasthala, was inaugurated by Dr Gulabchand Kotari, Chief Editor of Rajasthan Patrika at the Amrithavarshini Hall on December 12, Wednesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Kothari said literature should be the guiding light of the society. He said the objective of both literature and journalism is one and the same. He said the literature can bring a change in the society Entertainment cannot be the sole objective of literature, he added.
Noted poet Dr HS Venkateshamurthi presided over the function. He said literature and religion are inseparable.
Dr Vijayalakshmi Balekundri gave a talk on “Vachana literature and health.” Prof. V Subrahamanya spoke on Music and literature.
S Prabhaker, Vice President of SDM Educational institutions, D Harshendra Kumar were also on the dais.
A variety of cultural programmes were organised. Over 3814 artistes participated in the last day’s programmes of Lakshadeepotsava.
