Mangalore: Many two-wheeler riders in Mangalore are seen wearing plastic helmets which are not only unauthorized but also unsafe at times of accidents. In a drive launched by the traffic police on December 20, Thursday, over 11 plastic helmets were seized from two-wheeler riders from near St Mary’s School.
Traffic East Inspector T D Nagaraj said nearly 15 plastic helmets have been seized from riders in the Pandeshwar area on December 19. The plastic helmets are only cheap, but not recommended by the police department. Rules say drivers will have to wear ISI marked helmets as these helmets can save lives during accidents.
