Udupi : Thousands of devotees from far and near visit the Sri Krishna Mutt of Udupi throughout the year. Some time back, there were also reports of the shrine facing terror threats. Already tight security arrangements are in place at the Mutt.
Sill the police department has decided to further step up security arrangements. There are plans to install CCTVs at more points and near all the six gates leading to Carstreet and also inside the Sri Krishna Mutt as well as Ashta Mutts.
A meeting was held in this regard under the presidentship of District SP Boralingaiah. The officers of the ashta mutts too participated in the meeting. The estimated cost of security upgradation is put at Rs one crore. It is learnt, a report will be prepared in this regard. Sources said the Ashta Mutts have agreed to bear the security expenses.
