Udupi: A major burglary has been reported from a house at Subhashnagar in Shankerpura. Gold worth Rs 8.5 lakh and a cash of Rs 81,000 were stolen from the house of one Dr Ravindra, when he and his wife were away.
The theft is learnt to have taken place on the night of February 24, Sunday when Ravindra and his wife had been to Mangalore. It came to light when the couple returned the next day morning when the front door locks were found broken.
The stolen valuables include a diamond necklace and bangles, gold chains bangles and silver articles.
Senior police officials including Udupi SP Dr Boralingaiah, Karkala DySP Jayanth Shetty, have visited the spot. A dog squad and finger print experts have also been deputed.
