Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah dies in PGI Chandigarh

SanaullahChandigarh : The Pakistani prisoner Sanaullah, who was fatally attacked by a co-prisoner inside a Jammu jail, today passed away after fighting a losing battle in PGI Chandigarh here.

Sanaullah’s condition deteriorated on Wednesday and doctors at Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) said he was in “extremely critical” condition.

A resident of Sialkot in Pakistan, 52-year-old Sanaullah Ranjay was serving a life term in a Jammu jail after he was convicted under TADA following his arrest in 1999.

He was attacked by an inmate in the high security Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and was rushed to PGI here in an air ambulance on Friday last

The assault came a day after the death of Sarabjit singh inside a Lahore jail, where he was attacked by fellow inmates.

Sanaullah’s relatives, brother-in-law Mohammed Sehzaad and nephew Mohammed Asif, who arrived here on Tuesday, visited him on Wednesday for about 10 minutes in the Advanced Trauma Centre of PGIMER.
