Mangaluru : The city police have claimed to have substantiated with evidence that the murder of Chota Shakeel’s aide Madoor Isubbu in the Mangaluru District prison in November last year was a planned attack, allegedly carried out by the aides of underworld operative Vikki Shetty.
The police said that the murder of Isubbu’s aide Ganesh Shetty was carried out by a group that had been allegedly harassed by Isubbu and Shetty in the prison.
These facts were mentioned in the two separate charge sheets filed by the Barke police in connection with the murders of Isubbu and Ganesh Shetty on November 2.
Nine persons, including Vikki Shetty’s aide Akashbhavan Sharan, have been arrested in connection with the murder of Isubbu, while 12 persons have been arrested in connection with the murder of Ganesh Shetty.
In the charge sheet pertaining to Isubbu’s murder, the police mentioned the name of Vikki Shetty as an absconding accused.
The charge sheet makes mention of the calls made by Vikki Shetty to some media channels to own up the murder of Isubbu.
It has details of how knives and a dagger were supplied by some of the arrested persons to Akashbhavan Sharan’s aides lodged in prison.
Ruling out the suspicion that Isubbu’s aides might have murdered Ganesh Shetty, the police said that the attack on Shetty was carried out by a group of persons harassed by Isubbu and Ganesh Shetty in the barrack in the Old Prison Block. To show the hold Isubbu and Ganesh Shetty had in the barrack over other inmates, the police mentioned in the charge sheet the presence of a passage in the Old Prison Block that was used only by Isubbu and Shetty.
The police said the accused jumped out of the enclosure at the time of the attack on Isubbu and rained blows on Ganesh Shetty. It was the injury by the blunt side of a sharp weapon on the head that led to Ganesh Shetty’s death.
