Udupi :   The under-construction jetty at Kodikanyana stands as a good example to the lack of will-power on the part of the authorities.

Though the jetty construction is almost complete, the facility to moor the boats is yet to be provided. Even the silt accumulated at the spot is posing danger to boats.

As a result, the fishermen are forced to anchor their boats away from the jetty. Lakshman Suvarna, president of Fishermen’s Association, Kodi Kanyana, says the problem of silt accumulation under the jetty has also been a cause of concern, said

Over 5,000 fishermen from the region will benefit from this jetty. As Malpe faces shortage of space for parking of the boats, this natural lake can be developed into a port. Fishermen of the region hope all the pending works are completed and they can make best use of the jetty.
