Kundapur: Kandlur’s well known Sri Kannika Parameshwari temple’s Mari Jathre was celebrated by the people of all faiths, on Wednesday.
As per the rituals two Jathres will be held at the temple, first one is called ‘Gende Seve Halu Habba’ which will be held in the month of March and the second is Mari Jathre which is celebrated on the last Wednesday of Ashada month every year. The Mari Jathre is very much known for unity of Hindu-Muslim.
People from nearly 8-9 communities will participate in the preparations of the celebrations. A wooden idol of goddess Parameshwari will be carved from Hangara tree. Different communities will take different responsibilities and perform their task with utter devotion.
The idol will be taken to the temple in a procession and it will be immersed in water. People of all faiths will join their hands to make this Jathre successful. The Jathre will be held in front of Kandlur mosque.
The Jathre is not been considered as a Hindu festival, all people will consider it as their own festival and it is the real sign of religious harmony.
