Mangalore: Successful kidney transplanting operations were performed for the first time on Tuesday July 11 here in Deralakatte, at the Nephro-Urology department of K.S Hegde Hospital.
Shiney donated her kidney to husband Joseph, while Mary Jones to her daughter Beena (names changed). Both patients suffered from end-stage kidney failure and were on dialysis for over an year.
Dr. Arunachalam Kumar, Dean presented a bouquet each to the patients. He said the hospital had reached a new milestone with this transplant.
Dr. Rajiv, Dr. Prajwal Raveender, Dr. Shashidhar Baikunje, Dr. Janardhan Kamath, Dr. US Ravindra, Dr. Sumalatha Shetty and Dr. M.P Nikhil formed the operating team.
