Mangaluru: A private school in Kinnigoli of Mangaluru taluk, reported more than 60 cases of viral fever among its students. A team of health officials rushed to the village, and have been conducting surveillance of children and others in the village. The school declared three days of holiday, as a precaution, and on Friday, classes commenced with health officials monitoring the situation at the spot.

District surveillance officer Dr Jagadeesh, said that tests were conducted to rule out possibilities of the spread of Covid-19 among children, and that none of them tested positive for the disease.

Dr Jagadeesh said that as a precautionary measure, the school had declared a holiday for three days, and reopened on Friday. “A team of health officials have visited the school and conducted surveillance among children and others. There is no need to panic,” he said, adding that the monitoring will be continued, till all the children recover.

DHO Dr Kishore Kumar M said that no other place in Dakshina Kannada, has reported such a cluster of viral fever cases. The department has taken measures to treat the children, he said.
