Managaluru: “To spread the knowledge about Konkani language, culture and folk, Konkani Sahitya Academy will organise ‘Konkani Lokothsava’ from February 10, 2017 to February 12, 2017,” said Academy President Roy Castelino.
Addressing a press conference Roy said that the programme will commence from 9 am on February 10, 2017. The delegates will be welcomed to the ceremony through a huge procession from Balmatta.
“Nearly 25 teams will take part in the programme. Felicitation to achievers, youth awards and other events are also organised. Everyday till 9 pm various programmes will be held,” he said.
He further said that Konkani language consists of 41 communities. This programme will show the varieties of culture followed by the different communities. Preparations have been started under 12 committees.
“The academy has performed well in past two and half years. More than 75 schools are teaching Konkani as a subject in DK and Udupi. We are trying to bring Konkani in PU colleges also,” he added.
