Mangaluru: District In-Charge minister Ramanatha Rai flagged off Koti Vraksha campaign jointly organized by MCC and Forest Department at Lady Hill on Friday.
Speaking on the occasion Rai said that more such awareness programmes will be organized in future.
“It is very much needed to spread awareness about the conservation of environment to save the earth from the natural calamities. Ten more such programmes will be conducted in coming days,” he said.
At the same time on behalf of DK School Children Vehicle Drivers Association, Sunil Kumar Bajal submitted the memorandum to Rai and J R Lobo and said that while taking any decisions regarding children safety, the opinion of drivers also should taken in consideration.
MLA J R Lobo, MLC Ganesh Karnik, Corporators and students planted saplings along the sides of road.
Mayor Harinath, Corporator Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D’Souza, Lancelot Pinto and others were present.
