Udupi : ‘Mathe Kalyana’ programme organised by Sahamata Vedike Sri Taralabalu Jagadguru Shaka Mutt and Udupi Basava Samiti inaugurated at the Town Hall, here on Friday.
Na. Mogasale, writer, said that the vachanas are not just literature but also a religion.
He said that the vachana literature is vachana dharma. It is a unique religion which teaches people to lead virtuous lives.
Vachanas are simple to understand and had deep insight and explained religion in a simple language, he said.
Panditaradhya Shivacharya Swami of Sanehalli Mutt, Y.S.V. Datta, former MLA, Nagaraj G.M., professor, Girls PU C College, were present. They also participated in an interaction programme with college students, which followed the inaugural function.
In the afternoon, a ‘Samarasya Nadige’ was held from Board High School to the Town Hall here.
The Sanehalli Mutt seer, Mr. Datta, Vinaykumar Sorake, Pramod Madhwaraj, former MLAs, also participated in it.
